Public Notice:  Point Adams Shoaling - Mariners take caution

January 3, 2024
Mariners should proceed with caution while navigating into the northern entrance to the Charleston Marina, in the vicinity of Point Adams.  As experienced in previous years, a button shoal has formed between the Point Adams fish plant, and transient side of “B” Dock.

The southern end of the shoal has been marked with an unlit danger buoy (white with orange tape). The north side of “B” Dock has been closed to provide more room for safe navigation to the inner basin.  The Port continues to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in an effort to dredge this shoal in late Spring or early Summer 2025 (date corrected).
